Hawaii - Day 1 (Monday 9/12)

Nick & I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary last week! That's right, 10 years! (I know, I know...It's hard to believe that I'm even old enough to have been married 10 years, but yes, yes I am, lol!) Since it was such a milestone for us we decided to take a great vacation & went to Oahu, Hawaii! And let me tell you, it was AWESOME! It was the first time for either of us to visit Hawaii, but definitely won't be the last. We're already planning our next trip!

We left Houston around 9 am on Monday (after being up most of Sunday night with Addy having one of her sleepless nights & Alex had a stomach bug & was throwing up all night.) It was an 8 hour flight & even though we were both tired, neither one of us got much sleep on the plane. So after the 8 hour flight & losing 5 hours because of the time differnce, we arrived in Honolulu around noon.

We made it to our hotel by about 1. It's a great little boutique hotel at the end of the Waikiki Beachwalk called Hotel Renew. I definitely recommend this place. It's in a great location & the staff was awesome! (They knew our name & room number everytime we stopped by the front desk & had lots of great recommendations on things to do.) And it's eco friendly & has modern & sleek decor, as opposed to a lot of the hotels have TACKY beach decor.

At this point we were starving (& exhausted) so we went to a great little place on the beachwalk called Cheeseburger Paradise. I had a pulled pork sandwich & Nick had a Hawaiian chicken sandwich. They were both delicious! Then we went to Waikiki beach (which was right across the street from our hotel) for a couple of hours.

After being up at that point for almost 48 hours, we went back to the hotel, took a shower & crashed! It was 5:00 pm! (10:00 pm Houston time though) And that was Day 1.
